Last week we celebrated a special Baby Phoenix Graduation — honoring a few of our littlest learners as they completed their journey in the Early Stimulation Program, created for the baby siblings of our students. We can’t wait to see them continue growing as part of the IAB community!
Congratulations to Rodrigo Niño, Leonardo Garrido, Emma Leal, Mauro Leija, and Christopher Salinas!
A heartfelt thank-you to Miss Betzy for her care and dedication.

Our 9th graders recently presented the results of their MYP Community Project to their families, showcasing the dedication, creativity, and hard work they put in throughout the entire school year. This meaningful initiative was developed for Centro Educativo Libertad Dolores Morales de Lobo and reflects their commitment to making a positive impact beyond our school walls.
Coordinated through the Design subject by Miss Sandra Chapa and Teacher Frank Medrano, students learned to work with materials like wood and cement, using tools such as hammers, drills, and sanders.
Their project ideas included: a play area, soccer field, shaded spaces, rest areas, a mobile library, vertical garden, and a vegetable patch.
Special thanks to the mentors who guided this process: Mara Valdés, Daniel Quistiano, Jairo Martínez, Mayra De León, Sandra Chapa, Daniela Padilla, Alicia Medina, and Michelle Castilleja.

5th graders proudly presented their PYP Exhibition last week to their parents, showcasing the incredible projects they developed across different subjects. Guided by their dedicated mentors—Jonathan Pighills, Miriam Acosta, Alicia Medina, Luz Peña, Perla González, Bárbara López, Carlos Rossell, Jairo Martínez, Laura Martínez, Marisela Nájera, Katia Zepeda, Victoria Fernández, and Ana Lorena Robles—this event marked the culmination of their journey through the Primary Years Programme and their exciting step into the MYP.

Over the past weeks, our Formative Academies opened their doors to families for their end-of-year exhibitions. In a series of open classes, students shared what they’ve learned, discovered, and created throughout the year in Music, Art, Robotics, Cooking, Eco Club, and Theater.
These moments weren’t just about final products — they were about process, passion, and the joy of learning by doing. We are deeply grateful to all the teachers who guided and inspired our students each step of the way, and to Frank Medrano, our Academies Coordinator, for his leadership and vision.
Thank you to every family who came to celebrate their children’s efforts — your presence made it even more meaningful.

In recent weeks, our Sports Academies brought energy and enthusiasm to the forefront as students demonstrated their progress across many disciplines. Whether it was Tae Kwon Do, Sports Initiation, Barre, Yoga, Dance, Boxing, Parkour, Early Stimulation, or Table Tennis, each participant showcased their commitment and growth.
These exhibitions were a celebration of physical strength, perseverance, and the joy found in movement and teamwork.
We extend our gratitude to the dedicated coaches and supportive families who make this journey possible every day, and Coach Edwin Treviño, Sports Academies Coordinator for his guidance and leadership.

Our Nursery 2 students lived a very special milestone this week — their very first field trip. As part of their Unit of Inquiry “Living Together,” they visited Xenpal, where they had the chance to see, touch, and learn about different animals and their habitats.
It wasn’t just a day of fun (though there was plenty of that too) — it was a moment of growth, curiosity, and connection with the world around them. For many, it was the first time experiencing school beyond the classroom — discovering new places, sharing with friends, and making memories they’ll carry with them.
We’re so proud of our little explorers.

On June 6th, we welcomed our IAB Cumbres dads for a special evening in honor of Father’s Day. It was a night to take a pause from the routine, connect with other parents, and enjoy a moment created especially for them.
With live music, the event offered a chance to recognize and celebrate the important role fathers play in our families and in our school community. Thank you to all the dads who joined us — your presence made the night meaningful.

We are proud to share that Gerardo Hugo Rodríguez Arias, a student at IAB Cumbres, successfully passed his exam to earn the red-black belt in Tae Kwon Do this past Sunday, June 8th.
Gerardo began his Tae Kwon Do journey at IAB Cumbres as a white belt back in Kindergarten, and after years of dedication, he has now reached the highest rank awarded to children under 15. His new belt, embroidered with his name and “1st POOM,” marks a significant milestone in his growth and commitment.
His perseverance and achievement make us incredibly proud. Congratulations, Gerardo!

Book Fair 2025 at IAB Cumbres was a celebration of imagination, curiosity, and the magic of reading.
With our Dr. Seuss theme, “From here to there, books take you anywhere,” the week was filled with special moments—from book presentations by author and community member Carlos Calles, to visits from students and parents who explored and enjoyed every corner of the fair.
Parents also joined us in classrooms to read and lead creative activities, making the experience even more meaningful.
We closed the week with Book Character Day, where students came dressed as their favorite characters or authors, bringing stories to life across our campus.
Thank you to our entire community for making it unforgettable.

Second grade wrapped up their Unit of Inquiry, How We Organize Ourselves, with a special showcase for parents.
Students proudly shared their learning and projects, showing how systems and roles help communities work together. It was a great moment to reflect on their progress and celebrate their curiosity and growth alongside their families.
The TK3 Vonnacher League Tournament took place over two exciting weekends, May 24–25 and May 31–June 1. We’re proud of the performance of our IAB Cumbres students from the Tae Kwon Do Sports Academy. Congratulations to Mael Garza and Arath López for earning second place, and to Lucia Garza and Emilio Olvera for securing third place. Your dedication and spirit inspire us all!

We are thrilled to share that our students from 7th to 9th grade participated in an incredible Leadership Program provided by Harvard University!
During three intensive days, our students developed essential 21st-century skills such as negotiation, public speaking, and teamwork. These skills came to life in their Passion Project—an initiative where each team brought forward innovative ideas close to their hearts.
Their projects were evaluated by Harvard staff using the Shark Tank method—a challenging and exciting opportunity where students pitched their ideas with confidence, creativity, and purpose.
We are so proud of the courage, talent, and growth our students demonstrated.
This experience reflects the importance we place on real-world learning and preparing our students to lead with vision and impact.
Proud to be Phoenix!
9th grade students from IAB Cumbres have been working on a powerful community project as part of their Design class, led by Teacher Sandra Chapa.
During all the school year, they designed and built different structures at school using materials like wood and cement, and tools such as drills, hammers, and sanders. They then brought everything to Centro Educativo Libertad Dolores Morales de Lobo, where they installed a playground, a soccer area, shaded rest zones, and other useful spaces for students to enjoy and learn in.
With the support of their mentors, this project became a true example of creativity, teamwork, and meaningful service.

Last week, our IAB Cumbres soccer teams shined in the CECAFF League finals. Two of our teams—2016 in Fútbol 7 and 2020 in Fútbol 5—brought home the championship titles. The 2014 and 2019 teams also made it to the finals after an incredible season, and the 2018 team reached the semifinals in Fútbol 5.
We’re proud of every player for their commitment and teamwork. Special thanks to Coaches César and Carlos for their leadership and dedication throughout the journey, and to all the parents for supporting and encouraging their children in sports. Your presence and enthusiasm make all the difference.
