This week, our 8th grade and Kinder 2 students took the stage in two very special assemblies. 8th grade commemorated the birth anniversary of Benito Juárez and the arrival of spring with engaging performances, creative presentations, and a dance that truly delighted parents. Kinder 2 celebrated spring and Women’s Day with a heartfelt song dedicated to all moms, creating a sweet and meaningful moment on stage.

During the assemblies, we also recognized and celebrated our Elementary and Preschool dance teams for their outstanding participation in the OJD Evolution dance competition, where they earned first place in their respective categories—congratulations! During the Kinder 2 assembly, both teams had the opportunity to perform their winning routines in front of their classmates and parents, making the moment even more special.

Last week, K3 parents took part in the Parents Workshop “Building Confident Readers and Writers,” led by Lic. Anafernanda Canales along with K3 homeroom teachers Melissa Olivares, Karen Rosales, and Erika Álvarez.

During the session, families experienced firsthand how their children learn in the classroom, gaining a deeper understanding of their reading and writing journey at this important stage. They also explored practical ideas and strategies to continue supporting this process at home, strengthening their confidence and nurturing their interest in language.

At IAB Cumbres, we value these meaningful learning spaces that bring families and educators together to support each child’s development.

As part of our School for Parents program, the talk “Screens and Their Impact on Child and Adolescent Development” was presented last week by Lic. Mónica Villarreal, an expert on the topic.

Families received clear, evidence-based insights on how screen use influences sleep, behavior, attention, learning, and emotional regulation, along with practical strategies to help establish healthier digital habits at home.

At IAB Cumbres, we are committed to equipping parents with meaningful tools and guidance that support their children’s wellbeing and development both at school and at home.

Last week, from K3 to 9th grade, we held our Student-Led Conferences, where students took the lead in sharing their learning with their parents.

Each student guided their families through their goals, projects, progress, and areas of improvement. Through portfolios and thoughtful conversations, they reflected on their efforts, recognized their growth, and set intentions for what comes next.

These conferences are a meaningful opportunity for students to build confidence, take ownership of their learning, and proudly showcase their progress to their parents.

Thank you to our families for being present and engaged every step of the way.

This week’s assemblies were truly meaningful across our school.

Our 3rd grade students led a special commemoration of Mexican Soldier Day with a beautiful representation and poem. They also honored Mexican Flag Day with pride and respect, and celebrated Valentine’s Day by dedicating a lovely song to their families.

A special thank you to First Captain Pablo Radilla from the Mexican Army, who shared touching and inspiring words with our students. His message moved us and reminded us of the importance of loyalty, dedication, love for our country, strong values, and becoming excellent citizens.

We also enjoyed Kinder 3’s assembly, where our youngest students celebrated Valentine’s Day with beautiful songs that filled the room with joy and love.

Our school community experienced an inspiring MYP Design Fair, where students from 6th to 8th grade presented solutions to real-life challenges through the Design Cycle.

From research and idea development to creating and evaluating their final products, each project reflected creativity, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of their users’ needs.

Throughout the exhibition, our students confidently shared their process, justified their decisions, and received valuable feedback from our guest judges, experiencing what authentic learning looks like beyond the classroom.

A celebration of innovation, inquiry, and student agency.

We are proud of our risk-takers, thinkers, and creators!
